Design and construction of enlargement of existing lean-to extension.
The Construction Co designed and constructed an enlargement of existing lean-to extension to a family home to the clients requirements.
We received an enquiry directly from the client asking for assistance to enlarge an existing lean-to extension. The aim was to add some additional floor space to the room while maintaining its current external finishes, one of the key requirements for this project was for the construction to be sympathetic to the existing building.
The project was designed and managed by ourselves with the necessary building regulations adhered too. We were able to complete the main portion of the new extension without internally affecting the use of the current room. New bricks and roof tiles were sourced to match seamlessly with the existing.
Another key requirement for this build was to maximise the incoming natural light to the adjacent dining room as the extension provided its only external light source. Three new rooflights were installed along with new PVCu windows and a PVCu folding doorset which completed the extension structure.
Because of the footprint to new extension, the garden retaining wall had to be re-positioned further into the raised lawned area to allow for a footpath to remain around the property. A new brickweave patio was laid to continue the existing patio into the newly formed landscaped area.
Jason Sims of The Construction Co dealt with the design and project management and ensured that the project went like clockwork. The workmanship was exemplary and all the tradesmen demonstrated a high level of skill and commitment. They were also, without exception, really nice people.
